About
About WN&A
WN&A was established in Northern California in 1979 as a full service marketing communications agency. It grew into a 15-person, multi-million dollar marketing communications company working principally with energy and engineering clients throughout the state and nationally. In 1999 I closed the California office and began independent practice. Today, WN&A is a technical communications company specializing in improving the communications of engineers and scientists.
About Me
I have been writing professionally for four decades. First as a newspaper reporter and corporate public relations/public affairs manager, and later as the owner of WN&A.
Over the years, I’ve written and managed production of hundreds of publications on topics dealing with energy, the environment, economic policy, and issues analysis. Through this processes I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge about what it takes to write successful technical publications. I’ve also gained a clear understanding about how to help engineers and scientists improve the quality of their written materials and thus extend their influence with their technical peers, management, and customers.
Today I focus most of my energies and expertise on teaching scientists and engineers the skills to successfully communicate complex technical information to the audiences that need to understand and be persuaded by their work. I developed the workshops Writing for Technical Audiences and A Framework for Planning Technicical Communalizations Programs to help them become better and more efficient writers and communicators. I also provide technical writing services and will consult with companies on how to plan and manage their technical communications programs.
